Rory studied Fine Art in Florence, Italy, at the Accademia Italiana, between 2002-2004. He subsequently went on to train at Central Saint Martins, London where he practiced varied disciplines such as Mixed-Media Painting, Printmaking, Digital Photo Capture, Photographic Studio Lighting and Portraiture. He has also worked under the guidance of award-winning Nicholas Beer, portraitist of royalty and nobility throughout Europe. Rory has exhibited at Christie's, London, and taken commissions for portraits globally. He began specialising in dogs in 2006.Rory's primary residence is in London, where he enjoys spending time with his two Jack Russells, his black Labrador and his cat. Artist's Statement: My work focuses on the beauty and innocence of raw, animalistic character. I try to capture the grace, energy, curiosity, clumsiness, devotion, naivety, confidence and all manner of other canine/feline/equine qualities commonly attributed to that animal. It is the lack of ego and conscientiousness in these animals that sets them apart from humans as far as subjects for portraits go - and it is this same 'lack' that gives us so much more in a painting. They tell their own unprompted and beautiful stories - unique stories which I try to capture in every work I execute. Exhibitions include:
